This is utter garbage, coming of course from a strident liberal who orchestrated President Clinton’s disastrous defense cuts and who is still lying about defense spending to this day (and has repeatedly been rebuked by me for doing so). 4% of GDP is a very modest amount. The US spent a much LARGER percentage of its GDP on defense throughout all of the Cold War except FY1948 and the Carter years, yet, the economy didn’t collapse. Under President Reagan, the US spent 6% of GDP on defense, yet, under his presidency, the US economy expanded rapidly, by a size equivalent to that of the economy of West Germany at the time.
This was not an authorization for military operations anywhere. This was not a resolution of approval for President Bush’s policies. This was simply a resolution honoring the victims of 9/11.
And yet, Baldwin voted AGAINST it.
Barack Obama came into office explicitly promising deep defense cuts to his liberal supporters. And he has delivered. Now he plans to make even further defense cuts, which, even in the absence of sequestration, would include closing the Lima Tank Plant – the only facility in the entire United States today capable of producing tanks.
My years in education, most of which were spent in Special Education, have given me a window of understanding into the minds of emotionally underdeveloped Democrats and Liberals–that sounds funny but it’s true. Joe Biden exhibits all the developmental anomalies common to many, not all, on the Left.
Barak Obama is not a King, but his behavior is that of a tyrant. Our American primogenitors, during the torrid summer of 1776, understood the stakes of their gamble with the lives and liberty of the Colonists.
Like the emerging butterflies struggling from their rigid chrysalises, the GOP candidates are not fully developed, nor sufficiently strong to survive on their own. The Tea Party, by flexing its muscle and helping a particular candidate along, may weaken and kill the butterflies that needs to prove themselves through their initiatory challenges upon entering the world. The candidates must be proven, with the one most fit to weather the harsh environment of politics, emerging by his own power.
Obama stands in opposition to the substance of men who had true grit, the tough justice that won the freedom of people on the American continent as well as distant shores and many lands.
The blowback by him and his followers was epic! I was savaged on the wall of McConnell’s Facebook page, drawn and quartered, and attacked as a horrible “establishment Republican.” When I tried to bring some measure of civility to the conversation, I was called a “condescending Liberal.”
We don’t really want to kill the zombies of the GOP, we just want to give them back their souls. We need every living conservative to win in 2012. Another loss to Obama would make the Zombie Apocalypse look like a Tea Party picnic.
