Imagine a country that has a corrupt authoritarian government. In that country no one knows about checks and balances or an independent court system. Private property is not recognized in that country either. Neither can one buy or sell land. And businesses are reluctant to bring investments into this country. Those who have jobs usually work for the public sector. Those who don’t have jobs subsist on entitlements that provide basic food. At the same time, this country sports a free health care system and free access to education. Can you guess what country it is?

When I was a cute little chick I had a lot of hopes and dreams. The other animals in the barnyard were important to me and so I tried to include them in those hopes and dreams. As beneficent as it sounds to create showcases of collective “healing,” such public displays–complete with remarks by politicians and agendas formulated by various advocacy groups–find their true purpose in chronically opening old wounds to revive political issues. In the cases of Aurora, Newton, and Columbine, the issue is gun control.


SELFISHNESS: VICE OR VIRTUE?

The Left speaks of “shared sacrifice,” which, to them means, that those who earn give of their property to support those who, for whatever reason, fail to earn. It is euphemistic for Collectivism, and because one must lose to another, with wealth being moved around but never created, this form of “sacrifice” is a lose, lose proposition.
