Democrats’ Contempt for the Disabled
Democrat Gabby Giffords, the former U.S. Representative from Arizona shot in a horrendous attack in 2011, and left with permanent damage to her brain, is to me, a heroine. I don’t say that with the fawning of someone attempting to appear “compassionate.” I believe Gabby Giffords is a heroine because to overcome the life-changing effects of a severe traumatic brain injury, such as a shot to the head, is a herculean task requiring a lifetime of gumption. Gabby Giffords, by no fault of her own, was left by a madman, with a permanent disability. That is my Reaganite, conservative opinion of a courageous Democrat politician.
The Republican running for Governor of Texas against Abortion Barbie, Wendy Davis, is confined to a wheelchair. Greg Abbott was left paraplegic by an accident 30 years ago. The intrepid James O’Keefe’s “Project Veritas” earlier this week secretly recorded the supporters of Davis mocking Abbott’s disability. Democrats are less than generous when it comes to compassion for people with disabilities who don’t happen to believe or say the things Democrats approve of. The disabled, such as Giffords, are exploited by Democrats to showcase their “we’re for the little people” bleeding heart schmaltz. But if a person with a disability is a Republican, or the child of a Conservative such as Trig Palin, they are prey to the contempt and political opportunism of Democrats.
Remember little Trig, the beautiful son of Todd and Sarah Palin? Trig was born with Downs Syndrome. To give just a little context regarding the Left’s ethos when it comes to babies like Trig, approximately 90% of babies diagnosed with Downs Syndrome prior to birth are aborted. It appears that one reason the feminist Left hates Sarah Palin with such fire is because she failed their most sacred rite of passage and allowed her disabled child to live. The unspeakable attacks by Democrat entertainers and politicians on both Sarah and Trig during the 2008 presidential campaign were nothing less than demonic. Liberal Democrats love the disabled inasmuch as they provide justification for bigger government and political advantage. However, when it comes to the “right to life” and notions of “personhood” the Left has no use for unborn children with disabilities.
Margaret Sanger , the KKK-loving icon of Democrats, is the “mother” (irony intended) of the chain of industrial abortion mills known as Planned Parenthood. The abortion culture is an outgrowth of Sanger’s doctrine of Eugenics. Eugenics philosophy dishes up a plethora of double speak often employed by modern Liberals. “Inferior” becomes “unwanted” in arguments surrounding abortion as a form of birth control. Killing an unborn baby becomes “choice.” The government-sanctioned of murdering human offspring becomes “reproductive rights.” Sanger’s views of “defective humans” are echoed in the attitudes of modern Democrats whose compassion ends where Republicans with disabilities begin. Sanger once said of their utter elimination, “(it is) nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or those who will become defectives. The most urgent problem today is how to limit and discourage the overfertility of the mentally and physically defective.”
The callous contempt Democrats such as Wendy Davis’ supporters have for Greg Abbott and others with disabilities who have an (R) next to their name, illustrates how ephemeral “sensitivity” is when used as a tool for political gain. Political Correctness is not sensitivity nor compassion nor love nor the value of human dignity. It is a tool used to squelch debate. Democrats do not, and never will, advocate for people with disabilities, but they will use a person with a disability to gain a sentimental advantage over their political enemies. Those like Wendy Davis, known as Abortion Barbie for her obsessive filibustering for no limits abortion-on-demand in Texas, are emblematic of the contempt held by Democrats for the disabled as well as the unborn.
