The rule of law should reign supreme in any peaceful society, and when the law is broken society’s enforcers should do their duty to the best of their ability. But what if a law is oppressive or unjust?
The bill would strip BLM and the Forest Service of their law enforcement functions completely, while providing block grants for local authorities proportional to the percentage of public land in each state.
Illegal drug trafficking in Colorado has not noticeably decreased, and law-enforcement’s dependence on asset seizure as both a tool for prosecution and a means of funding makes drastic reform of current laws increasingly problematic.
